I grew up in North Berwick, Scotland, opposite the East beach with a view to the Bass Rock from my sitting room. After obtaining an Honours Degree in History from St Andrews University I spent the next eighteen years working in London before returning to my home town in 2009.
In 2014 I decided to take the plunge to focus on what I had always really wanted to be when I grew up and so set up Sheila Galbraith Designs.
Inspiration from the sea and the beach is at the heart of the jewellery that I make. Following some months working in New England I've been influenced by the nautical, crisp, clean and peaceful colours that are so prevalent there. I do also love bright colours and am happy to make up any of my pieces in a different colour of your choice, where possible.
Seeking out the perfect elements for my jewellery designs holds the same fascination and excitement for me as exploring the beach after the tide has gone out.
My jewellery is available via this website and at the monthly North Berwick Artisans Fairs (which I co-organise). I also sell my work at various other craft fairs throughout the year – details of which can be found under the 'Events' tab. I currently have an exclusively designed range of my jewellery and mixed media seascape pictures for sale at Westgate Galleries in North Berwick.
Thank you for visiting my website.
